Rudraksha is a seed traditionally used as prayer beads in Hinduism.
They are associated with the Hindu deity Lord Shiva and are often worn for protection & chanting Om Namah Shivaya mantra by Hindu devotees.
Rudraksha beads may be strung together as a mala bracelet and used to count the repetition of a mantra or prayer, similar to the use of rosaries in the Catholic Church.
While counting the Radraksha beads, one should not go past the counter, instead one just changes direction. Recitation should be done after covering the mala and it should not come into contact with the ground. After chanting a mantra, keep your mala bracelet in a cotton bag.
